If you’re ordering a Turck sensor, an Iperl water meter, a 1009 pressure gauge, or a set of Mitutoyo calipers, the most expensive mistake you can make is assuming a similar part number means “same thing.” It cost me $2,740 to learn that, and I’d rather you learn it from this article.

Bottom line: the number is the spec. If you don’t verify the number, you’re guessing—and guessing usually costs more than the rush fee.
