3. The cheapest option isn't the cheapest total cost. That $280 expedite fee felt painful. But the alternative was either a late arrival (costing far more in downtime) or a questionable substitute (risking compatibility issues). Sometimes paying more for speed and trust is the real bargain.

Oh, and about the Hioki multimeter vs Fluke thing—I don't want to start a flame war. Personally, I've used both. Hioki gives you excellent value for the price, while Fluke tends to dominate in ruggedness and brand trust. For emergency field service, I'd grab a Fluke 87V because I know it'll survive a drop off a ladder. But for bench work where budget matters, a Hioki DT4256 is totally fine. Different tools for different jobs—just like different distributors for different sensors.

One Regret

If I could go back, I'd have established a relationship with a Turck distributor that offered 24/7 emergency support before that Friday call. I spent two hours just finding someone who would answer the phone. Now I have a contact list with cell numbers. Lesson learned.
